Privacy policy
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 9, 2026 · LAST UPDATED SEPTEMBER 9, 2026
This policy explains what Critical Line collects, why, who else touches it, and what you can do about it. It covers criticalline.net and the Critical Line customer portal.
The short version: we collect what you give us and what we need to run the service. We do not sell it, we do not publish it, and we do not use your documents to train public artificial intelligence models. You can export or delete your data at any time.
1. What we collect
There are three kinds of information here, and they are collected in different ways.
- Information you give us. Your name, work email, company, and optionally a phone number. Property addresses. Answers to qualification questions such as how many sites you manage, whether you have received a carrier notice, and whether the situation is urgent. Anything you type into a message to your engineer.
- Information you upload in the portal. Carrier bills, retirement notices, line inventories, site lists, photographs and other building documents, along with the line and property records you or we build from them.
- Information collected automatically. Sign-in and session records, actions taken in the portal for the account audit trail, and analytics about how pages are used.
2. Property addresses and the check tool
When you type an address into the property check, we send it to the United States Census Bureau geocoding service to convert it into coordinates and a state. That is the only way to match an address against carrier filings, which are published by market rather than by street.
We do not store the address at that point. It is used for the lookup and discarded. An address is only saved if you go on to submit the form and consent to being contacted, or if you add a property inside the portal.
Addresses are never included in analytics. Our analytics helper strips any parameter that looks like an address, email, phone number or name before anything is sent to Google, so a property address cannot leak into reporting.
Your property and line information never appears on a public map, in a public data set, or in the carrier intelligence we publish.
3. Why we use it
We use information to deliver the service and to run the business behind it, and for nothing else.
- To build your line inventory and assess which lines are exposed to carrier activity.
- To plan, price and manage a migration, and to coordinate with your vendors when you ask us to.
- To alert you when carrier activity relevant to a property you have added is announced.
- To schedule and hold meetings you book, and to send confirmations and reminders.
- To operate accounts, keep the service secure, and maintain the audit trail your organization can inspect.
- To understand how the site is used in aggregate so we can improve it.
4. Consent and choice
You choose what to give us. The property check works without an account and without saving your address. Contact details are saved when you submit a form and agree to be contacted. Documents are saved when you upload them, after you accept the confidentiality commitment.
You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data from the portal or writing to us. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already happened, and it may mean we can no longer provide the service.
6. Meetings you book
Booking a meeting creates a calendar event on our calendar and sends you an invitation. The event carries your name, email, company and the property you asked about, so the specialist arrives prepared. Your email address is added as a guest, which is what allows the invitation to reach your own calendar.
You can cancel from the link in your confirmation, which removes the event.
8. How long we keep it
Account data, properties, line inventories, documents and project history are kept while your account is open, because that record is the product.
Addresses entered into the property check are not retained unless you submit the form or add the property.
When you delete your data, deletion is permanent and is honored across backups on the published schedule. After the stated grace period it cannot be recovered.
We may keep a minimal record of a transaction, such as that an account existed and when it was deleted, where we need it to meet a legal or accounting obligation.
9. Your rights
You can see, correct, export and delete your information. Most of this is self-service in the portal under Settings, and the rest happens by writing to us.
- Export. Download a machine-readable archive of everything held for your organization.
- Correction. Edit your profile, properties, lines and documents directly.
- Deletion. Request permanent deletion of your organization's data, confirmed by email, with a grace period before it becomes irreversible.
- Objection and restriction. Ask us to stop a particular use, including alerts and marketing messages.
10. Rights under state privacy laws
If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas among others, you have rights to know what is collected, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not knowingly process sensitive personal information.
To exercise any right, write to us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for asking.
11. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each organization's records are isolated from every other organization's at the database level, not merely in the interface. Documents are held in private storage and reached through short-lived links rather than public URLs.
Access controls apply inside your team, and staff access is limited to what is needed and is logged. Uploads are scanned before processing.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you, and we will tell you what we know rather than what is comfortable.
12. Children
This is a service for businesses and property operators. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
13. Where information is processed
The service and the providers listed above operate in the United States, and information is processed there. If you are outside the United States and choose to use the service, you understand your information will be processed in the United States.
14. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date at the top of the page and tell account holders directly. We will not quietly broaden how your information is used.
15. Contact
Privacy questions, and any request to access, correct, export or delete your information, go to support@criticalline.net. A real person answers.
