Managed connectivity for critical legacy endpoints.
When preserving a POTS-like interface is the appropriate migration path, Cline provides managed connectivity for the endpoint: installed, tested, documented and monitored as a service.
It is one answer within the lifecycle, never the starting assumption.
One answer within the lifecycle, not the first move.
Cline is the managed replacement service inside the Critical Line portfolio. It exists because some endpoints — a fire-alarm communicator, an elevator emergency phone, a gate call box — are better preserved than replaced.
We first identify the endpoint, requirements, environment and migration constraints. Then we select the appropriate path. Sometimes that is Cline. Often it is removal, a modern native service, or an endpoint upgrade with your existing vendor.

Managed, not merely supplied.
A POTS-like interface for the device you already own, so the panel, phone or call box can stay.
The endpoint is checked against the new path before installation rather than after it.
Installation includes testing against the real call or signal destination, not a bench check.
Backup power for the communications path is part of the design and part of the documented test plan.
Address, endpoint, path, numbers, test evidence and the responsible vendor, kept with the line.
The connection stays visible, so trouble is surfaced rather than discovered at the next inspection.
How a Cline line comes into service.
- 01Qualify the endpoint
Assessment establishes that preserving the interface is the right disposition for this specific line.
- 02Design the path
Connectivity, power, call or signal destination and any monitoring arrangement, specified per site.
- 03Install and test
Cut over with the legacy line still available, then test end to end before it is released.
- 04Manage it
The line stays documented and monitored, and stays visible in the portfolio alongside the lines you have not migrated yet.
Questions we hear first.
Is Cline a device or a service?
A service. Managed connectivity for a critical endpoint, including compatibility review, installation, testing, documentation and ongoing monitoring — not hardware sold on its own.
Why isn't Cline the default recommendation?
Because many lines don't need it. Discovery routinely surfaces lines that can be removed outright and lines whose function belongs on a modern native service. Leading with the product would produce the wrong answer for those.
Can we keep our existing panel, phone or call box?
That is usually the point of choosing Cline. Compatibility is verified before installation rather than assumed.
Is Cline approved for fire alarm or elevator use?
No vendor should make a universal approval claim. Requirements depend on the endpoint, the adopted code edition and the Authority Having Jurisdiction. We establish those per site during Assessment and coordinate the testing and documentation the project actually requires.
Find out whether Cline is the right path.
It starts at Discovery, the same as every other line.
